Construction work at Stanton Cross, Wellingborough is now under way with preparation works having started for the extension of Midland Road which will run past Wellingborough train station and across a new bridge to be constructed over the railway and River Ise and into Stanton Cross.

Contractors moved on site in early June to begin enabling works for Stanton Cross which is a major residential led development set to deliver over 3,000 homes, 7,500 new jobs, an enhanced and improved railway station, a country park, stores, a doctor’s surgery and shopping facilities for Wellingborough.

Located to the east of Wellingborough station, the development will be the largest growth the town has seen since the 1960s and one of the largest Suburban Urban Extensions in the East Midlands area.

The scheme is being promoted by developer Bovis Homes and the first phase of works will provide access to Stanton Cross which will set the course for the delivery of the first phase of new homes which will be available in mid-2016.

Stanton Cross will also provide up to 100 acres of employment land. Drake Commercial are advising Bovis Homes on the marketing and disposal strategy for all of the commercial land within Stanton Cross. The employment land will offer opportunities for warehouse/logistics, production and office occupiers which will help provide vital expansion and relocation potential in a local and regional market faced with a critical shortage of new space.
